A care home in Keighley, Bradford, is set to open its doors for a much-anticipated afternoon of music, food, and fun for residents and the local community alike this August.
Herncliffe Nursing Home, part of Summit Care Group, is hosting its annual Summer Fayre on Saturday 22nd August from 1pm to 4pm. Open to residents, their family members and friends, as well as all members of the community, the afternoon promises to be an opportunity to connect, have fun, and raise funds for the residents’ activity fund and the Dementia Friendly Keighley charity.

A number of local businesses will be in attendance on the day selling everything from craft materials to handmade jewellery, with all proceeds to be split between the residents’ fund and the charity. Some Herncliffe residents will also be running their own stalls, including artist David Hardman, who will be selling his popular paintings throughout the afternoon.
Music will be provided by musician Dominic Beresford, and guests will be able to enjoy a range of food and drinks, a penalty shootout, and time with the home’s therapy dog.

Manager Helen McAskill said: “Bringing the whole community together is really important to us at Herncliffe, and this is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect, have fun, and support Dementia Friendly Keighley. Following our acquisition earlier this year we want to show our local community that they’re still as important to us as ever, and this is a chance to do exactly that.
“Our annual Summer Fayre is always extremely popular and is finally making its highly anticipated return, so we’re hoping for a fantastic turnout. The event is open to everyone, and we’ve also invited residents from the other care homes in the area, as well members of the Keighley Parish, which includes five churches. We’re looking forward to seeing as many people as possible on the day, so come down and show your support.”
