The Ivy Chelsea Garden Enters Chelsea in Bloom with ‘Sloan Ranger’ Floral Installation

The restaurant has partnered with previous Chelsea in Bloom-winning florist, PHOHM, to create the install inspired by the iconic Chelsea fashion.

This Spring, The Ivy Collection is excited to announce that it is entering floral art show, Chelsea in Bloom for the first time on the show’s 20th anniversary. Partnering with Brighton-based florist PHOHM, The Ivy Chelsea Garden has installed an innovative floral display paying homage to the ‘Sloane Ranger’, in addition to having launched a cocktail menu with Lillet and a special dessert to celebrate the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Ode to the Sloane Ranger

In response to this year’s Chelsea In Bloom theme of ‘Flowers in Fashion’, The Ivy Chelsea Garden and PHOHM designed and created a floral display that playfully celebrates the iconic ‘Sloane Ranger’; the fashion identifier synonymous with the locals of Chelsea and Sloane Square.

Through the sourcing of second-hand, original authentic British heritage brand clothing, The Ivy and PHOHM worked with stylist Moss Omey to develop a cast of character archetypes inspired by the evolution of the Sloane Ranger. From the Princess Diana-esque equestrian enthusiast and her mini-me, to the traditional male Sloane Ranger and the more contemporary, fashion-forward Sloane Ranger, these characters have become vessels for the floral installations, as if they’ve wandered through wildflowers straight to dine at The Ivy.

The beekeeper, a symbol of harmony between people and nature, bridges the gap between the wild meadow and the curated style of the Sloane world. Alongside our other characters, it ties together the themes of pollination, protection, and British style.

A variety of bee-friendly plants were chosen to celebrate pollinators, with both potted plants and cut flowers chosen for their texture, movement and seasonal feel. Planted materials have been used wherever possible to make the installation more sustainable, and many of the plants will be donated afterwards.

Your Space, Your Story

In addition to the central theme of fashion for the installation, the design also nods to this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show theme of ‘Your Space Your Story’ with its ‘Ode to the Sloan Ranger’. Since its opening in 2015, The Ivy Chelsea Garden has sat on The Kings Road, synonymous with Sloane Ranger fashion and lifestyle, and has held court for appreciators of the fashion for the past decade.

The display also includes to the iconic Ivy uniform, providing pops of Ivy green, bridging the gap between inside and outside through The Ivy Chelsea Garden’s front door.

The beekeeper also pays homage to the Black Bee Honey and White Chocolate Cheesecake, launched especially and exclusively for the May floral celebrations. Available exclusively at The Ivy Chelsea Garden*, the cheesecake combines black bee honey and creamy chocolate on a crumbly biscuit base, served with a refreshing mango sorbet, honeycomb and an edible flower tying into the floral installation.

What’s more, The Ivy Collection restaurants, including The Ivy Chelsea Garden, are celebrating the RHS Chelsea Flower Show nationwide with a fruity and floral cocktail menu, crafted in partnership with Lillet. Leveraging the fresh, fruity, herbaceous flavours of Lillet’s range of wine-based aperitifs, the menu pays tribute to the beauty of nature and the imaginative spirit of the multitude of entries to both Chelsea in Bloom and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, while also tapping into the latter’s theme of innovation, nature landscapes and the future. Delights on the menu include the Lillet Rosé Spritz; as well as a selection of cocktails that hero floral flavours including Lavender, Hibiscus, Jasmine.

Phoebe Mulrooney from PHOHM said: “The King’s Road has long been home to the Sloane Ranger, and The Ivy Chelsea Garden feels like a natural resting point for these characters. Every outfit has been carefully considered to reflect different Sloane archetypes, from nostalgic to modern, and the flowers have been styled to echo those fashion choices.

It has been great working with The Ivy to bring this ton life for this year’s Chelsea in Bloom festival. We hope people will connect with the familiarity of our display and feel a sense of nostalgia. A moment of fashion, flowers and storytelling, all wrapped up in a very Chelsea kind of nostalgia.”

Santino Cicciari, General Manager at The Ivy Chelsea Garden said: “Every year at The Ivy Chelsea Garden, we celebrate the RHS Chelsea Flower Show with an installation, however this year we wanted to go that step further and take part in its associated show, Chelsea in Bloom. We have been delighted by the feedback the installation has received so far, with many passersby interacting with the immersive elements we have included, such as the hay-bale seating, to invite the public to step into our floral world and become part of the story. With this, along with our Black Bee Honey and White Chocolate Cheesecake we hope our guests feel fully immersed in the floral world we have created.”

The ’Ode to the Sloane Ranger’ floral installation will feature at The Ivy Chelsea Garden until Sunday 25th May. The Black Bee Honey and White Chocolate Cheesecake and cocktail list, created in partnership with Lillet, will be available at The Ivy Chelsea Garden until 31st May 2025.
